What is the Landivar Scholarship Program?

Each school year, income from the Landivar Scholarship Fund is used to provide assistance to students who qualify for financial aid. The Landivar Scholarship Fund, established in the 1950’s, assists needy and qualified students through the program each year. In return for the assistance received from the college, students who are awarded Landivar Scholarships are expected to make a commitment of service by carrying out specific duties assigned by the Student Affairs Office and are supervised by designated student and faculty supervisors. Such service may include tutoring or providing assistance as student assistants in one of the school offices, including: the Hunter Commission for Social Outreach, the Campus Ministry, the Counseling Office, the Belizean Studies Resource Center, the Dean’s Office, the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office and most importantly, community service to off-campus organizations.

Who qualifies for the Landivar Scholarship Program?

The Landivar Scholarship is based on academic merit and financial need. To qualify for this scholarship a student must submit the application form along with all documentation specified. Students whose grade point averages (GPA) are above 2.5 minimum and who provide evidence of financial need (e.g. through income tax TD4 forms from parents or guardians) shall qualify for this scholarship. Students who are awarded Landivar Scholarships must apply each semester and must continue to meet the academic merit and financial need criteria in order to retain their Landivar Scholarship each semester.

How much and what does a Landivar Scholarship cover?

The Landivar Scholarship covers a maximum of BZ$450.00 towards tuition for first years and $300.00 towards fees or books for second years. Students who already have fees and books scholarship from another source may apply for funds to be used for travel or a room and board bursary.
