The Belizean Studies Research Center

The editors welcome contributions from individuals with research interest in Belizean affairs. Contributions should be addressed to the co-editors, Belizean Studies, St. John’s College, P.O. Box 548, Belize City, BELIZE. Contributors whose works are published receive two copies of the journal free of charge.

Articles submitted should be unpublished. We require a hard copy of each manuscript, a copy done in Word 2000 or later version, and a short abstract. Manuscripts and or printed copies of scholarly articles should be of 20 to 25 pages in length and submitted on 8.5 x 11” paper, double spaced. Information on the author(s) should be included. Documents may be sent via email as attached files. Send documents and enquiries to belizeanstudies@sjc.edu.bz

Maps, tables and other illustrative materials must be given titles and numbered consecutively and submitted camera-ready on separate pages. Tables and figures should be placed on separate pages at the end of the articles with their positions indicated in the text. The preferred format for citation is the Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th edition. Manuscripts are reviewed by the editorial committee and specialized readers.

Manuscripts: The Journal invites unsolicited manuscripts. Please forward all queries and manuscripts electronically to the Editors at belizeanstudies@sjc.edu.bz. Please see Instructions for Submissions.

Book Reviews: If you are interested in doing a review, contact the Editors. Please send an e-mail with the title, author and publisher information. Reviews submitted should be unpublished. We require a hard copy of each manuscript and a copy done in Word 2000 or later version. Reviews should be 3 to 5 pages in length and submitted on 8.5 x 11” paper, double spaced.

Commentaries: The Journal also invites critical analysis in the form of an extended essay on any contemporary socio-political, socio-economic, or socio-cultural or historical issue in Belize. Commentaries may be 10-15 pages in length and submitted on 8.5 x 11” paper, double spaced.

Use of Mathematics

Authors are asked to use mathematics only when its application is a necessary condition for achieving the stated objective of the paper. When mathematics is used, the necessity for doing so should be explained, and the major steps in the argument and the conclusions made intelligible to a non-mathematical reader. Wherever possible, authors are encouraged to put the mathematical parts of their argument into an appendix. Stipulation of the software program used for analysis would be welcomed.
