Saturday, January 27, 2024 - The ATLIB 2024 National Track & Field Championship held at the Marion Jones Stadium witnessed an extraordinary display of athletic excellence. St. John's College Junior College (SJCJC) and St. John's College University (SJC-U) emerged as the top medalling teams, showcasing their prowess in various events and dominating the competition.
The female athletes from SJCJC and SJC-U were unstoppable, leaving their mark on the championship. Leading the pack was the phenomenal Kendall Morgan, who secured an impressive three gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and Shot Put events. Her exceptional performance was a testament to her dedication and skill.
Thayesse Alvarez, another outstanding athlete, claimed a gold medal in the Triple Jump event and also contributed to the team's success with silver medals in the 200m and Javelin events. Jada Logan showcased her talent in the Long Jump, earning a gold medal, while also securing a silver medal alongside Thayesse Alvarez in the 4x100m Relay.
The remarkable achievements of SJCJC and SJC-U did not stop there. Kendall Morgan's versatility was evident as she claimed additional gold medals in the 400m, High Jump, and Javelin events, further solidifying her position as a standout athlete. Jada Logan's silver medal in the Long Jump and Thayesse Alvarez's silver medal in the Shot Put added to the team's impressive medal tally.
The male athletes from SJCJC and SJC-U also showcased their skills and contributed to the overall success of the teams. Patrick Williams delivered a stellar performance, securing a silver medal in the challenging 5k Run event, showcasing his endurance and determination. Jamie Mangar impressed in the High Jump, claiming a bronze medal, and also secured a silver medal in the Discuss event.
The combined efforts of these exceptional athletes propelled SJCJC and SJC-U to the top of the medal table. Their remarkable achievements in events such as the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m Heat, 3k & 5k finals, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, Long Jump, Triple Jump, and High Jump demonstrated their dedication and hard work.
