Students listening to a presentation from a representative of the OAS Belize office.

We're excited to share highlights from our recent symposium, “Educate, Advocate, and Empower: Gender-Based Violence in Modern-Day Belize.”

This year's event featured an impressive lineup of guest speakers:

* Dr. Luiz Octavio Coimbra, Representative, Organization of American States (OAS) Belize Office

* Kieran Berdalez, Representative, Belize Police Department

* Ms. Dalia Arredondo, Lecturer and Representative, Belize Mental Health Association

The panelists delivered three insightful presentations addressing gender-based violence in the Belizean context. Topics included:

* Policies and challenges in combating gender violence

* Opportunities for strengthening regional cooperation

* Legal frameworks and mental health considerations

The afternoon was both informative and engaging, fostering meaningful discussions among students and speakers alike. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this vital event! Let’s continue to educate, advocate, and empower our community.
