We are incredibly proud of our team's dedication, sportsmanship, and relentless effort on the court. < Back SJCJC Pre-Engineering/Nursing Info Session Adriani Coleman May 17, 2023 The excitement was thick as SJC shared the plans for the pre-engineering and pre-nursing Associate Degree programs. On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, an information session was held for parents and prospective students interested in or who had applied for the Associate's Degree programs in pre-engineering and pre-nursing. The event was hosted by the President of the college, Mrs. Mirtha Peralta. During the session, Mrs. Peralta shared exciting news with attendees that the college plans to extend the programs into Bachelor Degree programs in the near future. Other guest presenters spoke with prospective students about their experiences in the engineering and nursing fields in Belize. Prospective students were given a copy of the course sequence for the programs and had the opportunity to ask questions about fees, courses, course modality, and other concerns they may have had. The information session was a great opportunity for prospective students to learn more about the programs and the college's plans for the future. With the promise of Bachelor Degree programs on the horizon, students can now look forward to a wider range of opportunities and a more comprehensive education in their chosen field. Previous Next

St. John's College, a prestigious educational institution in Belize, held a momentous event on October 6, 2023, to inaugurate its new university and science building. The ceremony was marked by the presence of distinguished speakers, esteemed guests, and a vibrant program that captivated the audience. The inauguration ceremony took place at the college premises and was attended by prominent figures, including the Honorable Francis Fonseca, the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, and the Honorable Kareem Musa, the Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries. Also in attendance was His Worship Bernard Wagner, the Mayor of Belize City, who graced the occasion with his presence. The event was a testament to the significance of the new building and its contribution to the educational landscape of Belize. The ceremony featured an array of speakers who highlighted the importance of the occasion and the transformative impact of the new university and science building. Among the notable speakers was Laudato Si University's Fr. William McCormick, who shared his insights on the role of education in shaping a sustainable future. Additionally, board members Mrs. Martha Guerra, Mr. Dilip Budhrani, Mrs. Ashanti Marin, and Mr. Michael Coye expressed their pride in the institution's growth and development. The blessings for the new building were led by Fr. Brian Christopher, the Jesuit Superior of Belize, along with Fr. William McCormick, Fr. Jose Vega, and Fr. Jeremy Zipple. Their presence added a spiritual dimension to the ceremony, acknowledging the importance of faith and education in St. John's College's mission. The audience was treated to captivating musical performances by the SJC Music School, under the leadership of Mr. Carlos Perotte, and the choir mistress, Ms. Giselle O'Brien. Their presentations added a touch of artistry and celebration to the event, resonating with the joy and enthusiasm of the attendees. In a moment of great pride and honor, the new building was officially christened 'Mirtha Alice Peralta' Hall, in recognition of its current President, Mirtha Alice Peralta. Serving as the college's President since 2015, Peralta has been instrumental in driving numerous initiatives and accomplishments. Under her leadership, St. John's College has implemented innovative programs, become a member of the prestigious Association of Jesuit Colleges & Universities, and witnessed the installation of state-of-the-art infrastructure. Among her notable achievements is the introduction of a hybrid Associate Degree program specifically tailored for students from Toledo. Peralta's vision also led to the establishment of the SJC-University, offering Jesuit Bachelor's Degrees to Belizean students, thereby expanding access to quality higher education opportunities. View More Program Requirements Program Requirements BA or BSc students are required to have a minimum of an Associate Degree or equivalent coursework from a recognized tertiary institution. Students who have not completed such minimum requirement will take foundation courses at the Associate Degree level to meet matriculation requirements for a baccalaureate program at St. John’s College. Students will typically complete coursework over a two-year period for a minimum of 60 credit hours that will employ multiple modalities of instructional delivery. A few specialized degree programs will require more than two years and more than 60 credit hours of coursework. All programs will consist of professional core and general core curricula that include the following: 36 credits hours (minimum) of professional core requirements 12 credit hours of humanities and liberal arts electives 6 credit hours of social science electives 3 credit hours of research methods 3 credit hours of research capstone, internship, or immersion experience All students will also be required to complete 40 hours of community service OR participate in a 0-credit ‘Living the Mission’ course to be eligible for the SJC baccalaureate degree. SJCHS (St. John's College High School), an all-boys Jesuit institution based in Belize City, recently held a remarkable Christmas Musical Concert to support their high school music program. The event, held at the school's auditorium, featured an array of performances, including the steel pan band, singers, recorder ensemble, piano pieces, and the esteemed musicians Mr. Elstan Lord and Mrs. Julietta Burrowes. The concert, which took place on December 22, 2023, was a resounding success, captivating the audience with a delightful blend of musical pieces and showcasing the immense talent of the SJCHS students. The event was a testament to the dedication and hard work of both the performers and the music program faculty. The evening kicked off with the energetic and vibrant performance by the school's steel pan band. Their captivating melodies and rhythmic beats set the tone for an unforgettable musical journey. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical exercises, SJCHS computer major students were able to explore various aspects of computer networking.
